Sultan's Colleen
There are some horses that take your breath away just by watching
them on the rail. Sultan's Colleen did that for me as a young girl
who always dreamed of having her owned trimmed horse. I watched her
win over and over and over again in the three-gaited ranks for a
couple of show seasons- and always remarked about her daintiness,
class, and overall pride and the way she carried herself. Most of
all, I remarked about how great it would be if she were MY horse!
My dream to ride her came true in 1996, and my parents quickly made
sure she was mine! In the beginning, I was awed by her show presence-
but once I got to know her, I was floored by her kindness,
willingness to learn, and her patience with me we learned and
perfected the ranks of equitation together. She never backed an ear,
never backed away from a challenge, and never backed down when the
going got tough. I could go on and on about the victory passes and
the patterns we nailed and the shows we went to- but none of that
matters. What matters is that this horse was there for me when my dad
died, hugged me back when I cried, and was always happy to see me. It
was a sad day when she went to a new owner and I still have not
forgotten how faithful of a friend she was to me, even all these years
later. She truly was a best friend who gave her all, at all times.
And for that, I will never be able to thank her enough. She was one
point away from CH status per ASHA requirements, but far exceeded it
in my heart! I love you Colleen!!!! Thank you for everything!
*Her last recorded owner lost track of her a few years back, and if
anyone has any information on her whereabouts, it would be greatly
appreciated.
